US allows museums to preserve online games

In a rare occurence of sanity, the goverment of the United States of America has decided to stand by a DMCA exemption for online games. This way museums are able to preserve online games. A tricky business which includes loads of client & server code. The latter is most of the times only available to the developer. Which in course makes some games completely unplayable.

What’s more, the Office is now seekingĀ public comments on a new set of proposed exemptions to the DMCA, including an expansion to the abandoned game clause.
